Reverend Denise Reynolds served as an Associate Minister for over 23 years at the Bethel AME Church of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. The inspirational leading of God towards a “greater work” for Him pricked Reverend Reynolds’ heart. She pondered this in her heart for some time while serving as an Associate Minister. At the end of 2005, the inspired touch of God grew even stronger confirming her call to Pastor. God moving in mysterious and miraculous ways had not only touch Reverend Reynolds but her husband Deacon James Reynolds. Deacon Reynolds heard his Master’s Voice responding “Yes” to His will then proceeded to tell his wife what the Lord had spoken to him.
God had confirmed His direction in both their hearts. Together they stepped out on faith deciding to venture out in their own ministry. Although the Pastoral Call was Reverend Reynolds’ it was clear that God’s Ministry in them was in the same oneness as they have always been – God, Deacon Reynolds, and Reverend Reynolds. It was at this time Mount Joy Church of God, Inc. was born.
As God continued to direct their path, He blessed them through an awesome experience while visiting The Cathedral Saint Mark Christian Community Church in Chester, Pennsylvania. It was only out of Divine Inspiration, God sent Bishop Anthony C. Hanna Sr. to lead them under his covering with genuine care and capable leadership.
After much prayer, fasting, touching & agreeing, Mount Joy Church of God held its first official meeting on Wednesday June 6, 2007 at 8:30pm. At this initial meeting, five Saints (Nick Reynolds, Jerome Reynolds, Susan Hays, Shannon Riddick, and Evangelist Sharon Riddick), met with Deacon and Pastor Reynolds they expressed interest with the leading of God’s Spirit to declare their membership. It was during this meeting where specific officers of the church were nominated and appointed and agreement to make Elder Denise Reynolds Pastor of Mount Joy Church of God, Inc. Bishop Hanna ordained her as Elder and installed Elder Denise as Pastor of Mount Joy Church of God, Inc.
After months of prayers, preparation and hard work came to pass, Mount Joy held Its Inaugural Service on September 2, 2007 at the Holiday Inn City Line Ave in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
