Below are a list of weekly activities during worship service that we engage in corporately to exalt the name of the Lord. This is subject to change upon the leading of the Holy Ghost and/or special services.

    Exhortation / Call To Worship

Services begins with corporate praise welcoming the Holy Spirit to be a part of service. In reference to the Holy Spirit each person is asked to stand and offer praise. Psalm 100:4 (NIV) says, “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.”

    Praise and Worship

Our “Praise and Worship” is an extension to Exhortation through sing and exulting God. This portion of service is usually led by our praise and worship team or guest psalmist or group. All service participants are encourage to partake as this is a corporate offer to God. We usually remain standing during this portion of service while singing and praising God. Psalm 150:6 (NIV) says, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.”

    Church Emphasis

The Church Emphasis are church announcements of events for Mount Joy, Pastoral engagements, and Faith Fellowship services. Announcements may include other acknowledgments such as welcoming visitors.

    Pastor’s Word

In this portion of the service our Pastor will address the congregation with emphasis within the church community such as church meetings, youth announcements, specific prayer requests, special services, birthday acknowledgements and the like. It is customary for us to stand and reverence the God in our Pastor whenever she address the congregation.

    Our Affirmation

This is a corporate declaration as a call and response. This is usually initiated by our Pastor but can be assigned to other members within the congregation. Please see the affirmation below.

I am what the WORD says I am!

I am not sad, I have JOY!

I am not weak, I am STRONG!

I am not poor, I am BLESSED!

    I am not a loser, I am a WINNER!

    I am not a quitter, I am a CONQUEROR!

I am not an outcast, I am a CHILD OF GOD!

    (In Unison)

“I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me!” “For the joy of the lord is my strength!” Philippians 4:13 & Nehemiah 8:10

    Tithe and Offerings

This portion of the service where we support our Ministries, Pastor, and help build God’s Kingdom. It is a vital part to our worship. II Corinthians 2:9 reminds us, “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” Mount Joy is a tithing church. (Malachi 3:10)

    Sermonic Selection

The Sermonic Selection is usually a musical offering usually rendered by the Joyful Noise choir but may be offered by psalmist or guest group. This occurs before the Ministry of the Word to bring in the focus and prepare the way for the Word.

    Ministry of The Word

Our Pastor, a member of the Ministerial Staff, or guest minister will present a sermon. We stand to reverence the Man or Woman of God when they come to the pulpit. We will usually remain standing until after the Scripture reading.

    Altar Call

Generally occurs after the Ministry of the Word; however, and altar call can take place anytime during the service as the Holy Spirit leads. It is an offering to accept salvation (new members), restore relationship with God (Backslidden), or join our church community (Christians without church affiliation).

    Benediction

The benediction is the short blessing with which public worship is concluded. This an important part of our service.
